“What’s in your backpack?” Greet your child with this question each day, and you will discover a lot about what is happening at school and what he/she does in class.

-Set aside time each day to go through folders and papers. Try to do it first thing after school when the day is fresh in your child’s mind. Use this time to remove older work and keep the folder and backpack tidy.

-Look over your child’s work together. Help him/her feel proud by making specific comments about the work.

-Have your child talk through math problems or science experiments to show you what has been learned. You might even have your child “teach” to you what was covered each day.

These daily conversations will let your child know that you are interested in what is going on in the classroom and open up conversation about other parts of the day. It will also help you to stay current on what is happening at school! As always, we are here to help you, as well as your child! Please feel free to call with any questions or concerns that you may have.
