Change in Breakfast Program for 2019–2020

During the 2018–19 school year, the Jennings County Schools piloted a program to provide free breakfast for all students in the district. Unfortunately, the formula we used to allow us to calculate the cost of the program was not an accurate predictor of our financial commitment. While we were able to finance this program for one year, we are not able to continue it due to the financial cost of the program. While we will no longer be providing free breakfasts, we are committed to ensuring students who are hungry have meals available. Our staff will work closely with families to make sure we do not turn any student away from breakfast or lunch if they do not have money.

To learn how to apply for free or reduced price meals and textbook assistance, please see the entire letter from Superintendent Teresa Brown.

We look forward to welcoming back our students on August 6. We have many exciting opportunities planned for our students for the 2019–20 school year. Please continue to let us know how we can better serve you.

Hayden Elementary registration will take place on August 2, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Archery Club Takes First Place

The Hayden Elementary Sharpshooters archery team scored a "bulls-eye" on May 11 when they earned the prestigious first place honors (out of 71 elementary schools participating) at the NASP National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. They scored their highest score ever of 3229. Brooke Nolan placed third in the nation for Overall Female Archer with a score of 290. Emma Maxie placed second in the nation in the 4th Grade Female Division and 15th as an Overall Female. We are proud of coaches Jason Gambrel, Paula Kahrs, and Bryan Gresham, for their part in making our team shine at competitions. Great job!

Another special thanks to Lori Kendrick, Sherry Hughes, Paul Sullivan, and Cheyenne Gilpin for spectacular costume, prop, and set designs.

Spring Cleaning

It’s that time of year when we want to remind parents that the end of the school year is near, and all accounts (lunch and textbook) need to be paid and/or kept current. Also, we have quite the collection of coats and jackets that have not been claimed by students. Feel free to come to the school office to see if your student’s missing item is here.
